Do you use quotation marks around a paraphrase? How come I was never taught about this???

Oh! Oh! I know this one!

Quotes are only used for word-for-word recitations of what people said. (This according to the AP Stylebook.) So paraphrases don't need quotation marks. Just the attribution.
